This is the most divine embroidery thread I’ve ever seen; it’s a bonus that it happens to be produced locally in nearby Gippsland and is plastic-free.
Variegated thread/yarn is perfect for lazy colour lovers because it surprises you with colour changes as you mend. There’s no need to coordinate a colour palette or wonder when it’s time to change colours – the thread does all the work for you.
Each skein contains 10m of hand-dyed, stranded cotton embroidery thread; images shown here are representative only of the colours and variegation you will find in each dye lot.
Can’t decide? Select one or more 'ELF's choice' skeins and I’ll pick for you.
NOTE: the following colours have been 'retired' and there is limited stock available:
- 908 bush lily
- 1200 bluegrass
- 1605 beetle
CGT threads are precut and packaged in an innovative way; pull on the left-hand side of the skein to untwist the thread, then remove each strand one at a time as you need it.
Features:
-
ideal for hand stitching and darning (If darning with multiple strands, I recommend binding them together first with beeswax to prevent weaving through the wrong threads and getting lost in a darning maze)
-
high sheen
-
low knotting rate
-
amazing colour combinations
-
short colour blocks give your mending more colour variation than other variegated threads
-
precut 50cm thread lengths are brilliant for travel (no scissors required)
-
thread lengths feature the same colour at both ends for continuous colour blending
-
Australian Textile Industry certified light- and colour-fast
This thread is made from 100% cotton, hand-dyed and packaged on recycled cardstock by mother-daughter duo Pam and Katie of Cottage Garden Threads in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. It would look sensational with Wrenbirdarts moth mending embroidery transfers.
Want to see how it’s done? Modern Mending the book includes 18 pages of detailed hand-stitching instructions, with photographs and illustrated diagrams.
Slow mode
This shop is in slow mode so I can do alllll the things – including running this shop and running after two tiny tots – and enjoy my life. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.
I'm currently dispatching orders once a week; place your order by 5pm Thursday Melbourne time (AEST) for dispatch by Monday.
(NOTE: I drop off most orders at my local post office on Fridays, but I'm told they don't physically leave the post office and start making their way to you until Monday.)
If you select Express Post at checkout, it will speed up Australia Post's delivery timeframe but won't speed up my process.
After your order has been packed, you will receive an email notification with your Australia Post tracking number, which you can use to check on the delivery status of your order.
Local delivery
Customers in Northcote, Thornbury and nearby suburbs (subject to capacity) can select local delivery at checkout. Local delivery is extra-slow and coincides with my pram-walking/kid-wrangling schedule, up to one week after purchase. ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶
