I absolutely love this book. Not only is it organized by type of mend, there are user friendly instructions, and fantastic photos. Also, there are some great tips that as a veteran hand stitcher, I didn’t even know. I mean, the method to create a knot at the end of my thread is revolutionary, yet so easy. And that’s just one tip from a book packed with thousands of them. This book brings me joy!
Very nice book. Quite a few techniques I was unfamiliar with and should help me lift my mending game. Most of the instructions I have seen so far are very clear. A couple I will need to revisit.
I have been inspired to do more hand sewing to repair holes in things before getting back to the machine.
I adore this book, thank you. I now think of mending as the ultimate mindful craft ...with a lot of creativity and humour included.
What? Write a review? I’m way too busy mending all the things I never thought of mending, like my machine knitted socks (with a patch of fun striped baby socks), or my sneakers that always develop holes in the toes (flower embroidery? Or invisible darn? Both?)
I thought I was pretty good at mending already, with simple patches on my son’s knees and saving my aunt’s hand knitted socks with a classic darn, but I had no idea there were so many possibilities! Swiss darning absolutely blew my mind and there is so much more. I love the clear step by step instructions, the lovely matching photos and the writing style. And now excuse me, my pot of tea is ready, so I’m off to tackle my first ever machine darned jeans.
This is the most comprehensive mending book I've seen. It's clear enough for total beginners, and has enough new suggestions and techniques to excite experienced menders.
